Recent Blog Posts
- I finished the computer work I listed in the last post.
- I took a trip to see relatives between the 19th and 27th so I didn’t have time to post much on the forums or work on my web site.
- I have updated the web site to use WordPress 2.7
- I added a notice to the forums that states as of 2009, general support questions should be posted to the HowTo Geek forums not my forum. This is due to 1. The HowToGeek forum has more users and resources to handle support questions, 2. I don’t want to deal with general support questions on two forums.
Site Redesign
I’m creating a new web site design and have moved the old one to old.techoddity.com and I will redirect existing links to that url until they have a home on the new site.
Site Updates
I think I got the bbPress/WordPress integratation worked out now.
I’m going to work on making the forum more visible in the future as it is not as easy to find as it should be.
There should be comment sections on the pages that link to the forum instead of no comments. I just found the bbSync plugin and will see if I can get it working in the next few days.
I also just found out I can publish from Microsoft Word 2007 to my web site, I didn’t think that was possible.
I always assumed (and you know what they say about assuming) that it wouldn’t work with a custom WordPress install but I just tried it with a test post and it works.

Site Problems
It appears that the bbPress forum somehow got broken so no one can login in and post on the forums.
When I get the time I will try to fix this but the cookie integration problem between wordpress/bbpress is really really hard to fix.
I also got a report of links not working on the site but cannot confirm that.
